However, the introduction of some unreliable narrations into exegetical and hadith sources necessitates a reassessment of their validity. Focusing on the perspective of Salehi Najafabadi and especially the book of imaginary hadiths, this article attempts to examine the most important criteria of documentary, textual, and methodological criticism of hadith with a descriptive-analytical approach and, in light of this, analyze the possibility of rereading a part of the hadith tradition in a rational and Quranic manner. A case study of one of the exegetical narrations shows that this approach, despite challenges in public acceptance, can play an important role in clarifying and refining narrative content. The article also examines the capacities of the rational and historical approach in hadith criticism by comparing Salehi's perspective with traditional methods and the perspectives of some contemporary thinkers of the Islamic world. The findings of the article show that Salehi's approach, while utilizing a rational and critical method, has the capacity to systematically reform the contemporary hadith tradition; however, it also faces challenges in terms of generalization and public acceptance. در سنت اسلامی، حدیث پس از قرآن، یکی از مهم‌ترین منابع شناخت دین به‌شمار می‌رود. با این حال، ورود برخی روایات غیرمعتبر به منابع تفسیری و حدیثی، ضرورت ارزیابی دوباره اعتبار آن‌ها را ایجاب می‌کند. این مقاله با تمرکز بر دیدگاه صالحی نجف‌آبادی و به‌ویژه کتاب حدیث‌های خیالی، تلاش دارد تا با رویکردی توصیفی–تحلیلی، مهم‌ترین معیارهای نقد سندی، متنی و روش‌شناختی حدیث را بررسی کرده و در پرتو آن، امکان بازخوانی بخشی از سنت حدیثی را به شیوه‌ای عقلانی و قرآنی تحلیل نماید. مطالعه موردی یکی از روایات تفسیری نشان می‌دهد که این رویکرد، با وجود چالش‌هایی در پذیرش عمومی، می‌تواند در شفاف‌سازی و پالایش محتوای روایی، نقش مهمی ایفا کند. مقاله همچنین با مقایسه تطبیقی دیدگاه صالحی با روش‌های سنتی و دیدگاه برخی متفکران معاصر جهان اسلام، ظرفیت‌های رویکرد عقل‌گرا و تاریخی در نقد حدیث را بررسی کرده است. یافته‌های مقاله نشان می‌دهد رویکرد صالحی، ضمن بهره‌گیری از روش عقلانی و انتقادی، ظرفیت اصلاح روشمند سنت حدیثی معاصر را داراست؛ هرچند با چالش‌هایی از حیث تعمیم و پذیرش عمومی نیز مواجه است.
