The nature, basics and principles of the new Islamic civilization have been derived from the revealed teachings. The book of Al-ʿAql wa l-Jahl (Intellect & Ignorance) as a part of Usul al-Kafi, which consists of valuable traditions from the Prophet's family (pbuh), can help in the formation of the foundation of the new Islamic civilization. The studies indicate that the removing of ignorance, the flowering of intellect, knowledge and wisdom, faithfulness, good character and goodly life as the main infrastructures of the Islamic civilization, are based on intellect. In this article we argue about, the root of all obstacles and challenges standing against this civilization is related to the ignorance. An analysis of the discourse of this book through a civilization-making approach, the essence of intellect, the distance from devilishness, the study of humans' behaviors based on knowing intellect and ignorance, the expansion and promotion of intellectuality in the school of the Proofs of Islam, the realization of the Mahdavi utopia based on the intellect and ethics.
