Hadith-sufficiency is an intellectual current, which has been formed among some muslim groups, and there are more or less traces of it nowadays. They say that the Qur'an not to be comprehensible to everyone, therefore avoid direct reference to the Qur'an, and they just refer to tradition and hadith for understanding religious teachings and they only accept verses in the understanding religion that there is a hadith or tradition about. The present research, which is written in a descriptive-analytic method seeks to know this current, and its development in Sunnī Islam .The surveys show that Hadith-sufficiency is created in contrast to Qur`an-sufficiency. Among Muslims, Hadith-sufficiency has been reported for the first time by some companions of the Prophet (pbuh) and followers. Hadith-sufficiency has been formed mainly among some Sunnī groups of the ‘people of hadith’ (Ahl-al Hadith), such as Hanbaliya, Hashviyyah and Salafism. The background of the appearance of Hadith-sufficiency among the Shia Muslims in the era of Minor Occultation (al-Ghaybah aṣ-Ṣughrā) was created by ultra Akhbārīs scholars such as Muhammad Amīn Astarābādī, Mīrzā Muhammad Akhbārī and their followers and continues to this day.
