Abstract
*Tafṣīl Wasāʾil al-Shīʿa ilā Taḥṣīl Masāʾil al-Sharīʿa*, authored by Shaykh Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan al-Ḥurr al-ʿĀmilī (d. 1104 AH), is one of the most important later Imāmī hadith-jurisprudential compilations. Although the author identifies many of his sources in the fourth *faʾida* of the book’s conclusion (*Khātima*), not all sources used are listed there. This study’s conceptual innovation is a tripartite classification of the sources of *Wasāʾil al-Shīʿa*: (1) direct sources explicitly listed in the *Khātima*; (2) indirect sources explicitly listed there; and (3) sources identified from the main text which, according to the author, were omitted from the *Khātima* because they were cited infrequently and mentioned only within the book’s chapters.
Using documentary induction and in-text analysis, this study examines all volumes of *Wasāʾil al-Shīʿa* and compares its citations with the list in the *Khātima*. Its principal findings concern three areas:
**Source identification and bibliographic documentation:** The study identifies and lists 29 sources cited in the main text but absent from the fourth *faʾida*.
**Frequency of source use:** It precisely determines the author’s use of each work and the number of hadiths transmitted from each source.
**Total narrations:** It establishes that al-Ḥurr al-ʿĀmilī transmitted 144 hadiths from these sources identified in the main text.
The study thus provides a supplementary, documented, and quantitative inventory of the source network of *Wasāʾil al-Shīʿa*, offering a more precise account of its sources identified from the main text and its citation patterns for infrequently used sources in this monumental work.
